Wedding Dress Fitting Tips for Your Perfect Fit

You’ve found the perfect wedding dress and can’t wait to show off your amazing wedding day look!..

But, you’re at your final fitting and realize the dress is cut shorter than you intended, or the most comfortable undergarments you rock on the daily just aren’t going to cut it with that plunging neckline.

Read on for useful tips on how to ensure a perfect fit when attending your dress fittings.

Don’t Forget The Shoes!

Try your best to have the exact wedding shoes you intend to wear on your wedding day each time you go for your fitting.

While most bridal boutiques will have shoes for you to use when you’re trying on that fabulous dress, having your own will ensure the dress is altered to work with what you will actually be wearing on the big day. Keep in mind, comfort is a goal but not a guarantee. Do your best to control the controllables and make sure you can move somewhat naturally… Or at least in a way that won’t annoy you all day!

Undergarments

This may seem obvious but it’s easy to stack your day when you’re a bride-to-be and put on your everyday undies.

Be sure to bring a quality strapless bra and panties, preferably in a color close to your skin tone. Bring a few options in case that neckline you chose is a deeper plunge than you originally thought, or even better bring a convertible bra that can be worn in multiple ways.

Who to Bring With You

Maid of Honor and Mother of the Bride should be reporting for duty on wedding dress fittings whenever possible but especially at the final fitting. One can take notes, while the other can learn exactly how the bustle works on that fabulous train. Have them bustle the dress at least twice to commit the process to memory so you’re not waiting forever on your wedding day when adrenaline is pumping after your ceremony and you want to go mingle with your guests.

Sidebar: we strongly advise against bringing the entire bridal party with you or too many people in general as a lot of opinions in the room can quickly become overwhelming.
